In 2011, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has carried out drilling in the amount of 147 thousand meters compared to more than 136.3 thousand meters in 2010 a source in SOCAR said to Trend on Saturday.
The source noted that the drilling all around Azerbaijan has totaled 270 thousand meters in 2011.
"The amount of drilling in 2012 is expected to stay at the same level as in 2011" the source said.
In 2009 SOCAR drilled a total of 168.2 thousand meters compared to about 203 thousand meters in 2008 and 190.4 thousand meters in 2007.
SOCAR includes production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Production Association Azerkimya (chemical industry), production association Azerigas (gas distribution).
SOCAR participates in large projects such as the development of oil and gas fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and gas-condensate field Shah Deniz in the Caspian Sea together with foreign partners.
