Turkey intends to increase electricity import from Iran

Turkey has expressed its desire to increase imports of electricity from Iran via the power lines Baskale- Khoy and Dogubeyazıt-Bazargan by 150 MB / hour and 40 MB / hour respectively, Turkey's state agency for energy sector supervision said today. At present, Iran exports 230 kilowatt / hour of electricity to Turkey daily.

Electricity consumption in Turkey in 2011 increased by 9 percent compared to last year. The figure hit 229.344.4 million kilowatt / hour.

In 2011, Turkey purchased 4.746.7 million kilowatt / hour of electricity in Georgia, Iran and Azerbaijan.
