Kazakhstan increased gas transportation by 18 percent in 2011, Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev said at the ministry board.

Transportation increased mainly due to transit of the Turkmen gas to China.
Mynbayev also said there was a decrease in transit of the Uzbek gas through Kazakhstan to Russia.

"Due to transit to China, we got access to the Turkmen gas, from Jan.8, 2011 during the heating season we consumed 283 million cubic meters of the Turkmen gas. During the current heating season it is planned to use 500 million cubic meters of the Turkmen gas, and we consumed slightly more than 400 million (cubic meters) from Nov.10," he said.
