Gas injections into oil wells in Iran's Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces have grown 67 percent over last year, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted a government official as saying.

By the end of this year (Iran's solar year ends on March 20) slightly more than 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas will have been injected into oil wells. The injections keep the pressure in the wells up to safeguard them and must be done continually, said Abdolhossein Kootaki, a director at the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company.
