Aktau port cuts oil transshipment in January

The Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (AISCP) has transshipped about 662,300 tons of oil cargo in January 2012 compared to 711,000 tons in January 2011, the port said on Thursday.

The Aktau International Sea Commercial Port has transshipped about 8.03 million tons of oil cargo in 2011 compared to 9.56 million tons in 2010.

Some oil being transshipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku from where it is delivered to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

Particularly, 140,900 tons of cargo of the total amount transshipped in 2011 account for steel products, 162,400 tons account for ferry cargo, 52,300 tons account for corn, and 22 tons account for other cargo.

Meanwhile, the total volume of dry goods transshipped in 2011 amounted to 4.072 million ton.

The port transshipped about 1.04 million tons in January 2012 compared to 985,000 tons in January 2011.

AISCP transshipped 12.1 million tons of oil and dry cargo in 2011compared to more than 12.8 million tons in 2010.

The Aktau port received 184 ships in January.
