SOCAR has finished drilling the second exploratory well on an offshore gas condensate field in a month, a SOCAR source told Trend on Wednesday.
He said the Umid well's depth is 6,170 meters of a planned 6,500 meters.
"Now, preparation is underway to enter the reservoir," the source said.
The field's discovery was announced in 2010.
According to SOCAR, the results of drilling of the first exploratory well suggests that the reserve's volume exceeds 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate.
Umid is located in 75 kilometers of Baku, 40 miles from the coast.
Geophysical work was first conducted here in 1953.
