CNG industry creates 22,000 jobs in Iran

The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) industry has so far created 22,000 jobs in Iran, Mehr news agency quoted an official with the National Iranian Oil Distribution Company as saying.

Shahram Asadpour said that 50 CNG stations have recently been inaugurated across the country, adding some 70,000 cubic meters to the CNG supply capacity. He added that the capacity would be increased by 50 percent in the next calendar year, which starts on March 20.

CNG stations in Iran have the capacity to supply some 50 million cubic meters (mcm) of CNG per day, Mehr news agency reported on March 10.

For the time being, 1,360 CNG stations are in operation across the country, and the figure is projected to increase to 2,000 by the end of the current calendar year, the report added.

Some 710 CNG stations will be established in Iran, increasing the number of stations to 2,530 by the end of the next calendar year.
