The share of Kazakh goods in the oil and gas sector accounts for only nine percent of the total procurement of materials and equipment, chairman of the National Agency for the development of local content NADLoC Dauren Abdyhamitov said in Astana on Tuesday.

"With regard to oil and gas sector, the share of Kazakhstan's goods is only nine percent of the total procurement of materials and equipment," Abdyhamitov said speaking at the Second Kazakh-British Forum for development of partnerships of suppliers in the service sector of oil and gas field in Astana.

He said that last year the total amount of purchases of goods and services throughout Kazakhstan amounted to $54 billion.

"Of this amount, more than $26 billion account for the purchase of equipment from domestic suppliers - it is about 48.7 percent. The share of local content in goods was 26.5 percent," he said.

NADLoC head expressed hope that British companies will contribute to the development of local production, especially that the Kazakh government pursue policy to support domestic producers.

"Oil and gas sector is the most promising in terms of developing new products that are experiencing shortages in the domestic market," he said.
