Baku port reduces oil loading cargo transportation
Azerbaijan, Baku, March 27 / Trend E.Ismayilov /
The Baku International Sea Trade Port transported 210,000 tons of oil-loading cargo in January-February, or 40 per cent less than the same period last year, a source at the Baku port told Trend on Tuesday.
The decrease in oil-loading cargo transportation from Central Asia is connected with their redirection to the oil terminal located in Sangachal since 2011.
"There is decrease in oil and oil product transportation," a source said. "It reached 40 per cent at an annual rate particularly in January and February."
In 2011 the port transhipped 1.74 million tons of oil cargo which is 13 per cent less than in 2010.
The Baku International Sea Trade Port transhipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 per cent compared to 2009. The downward trend in the port's oil cargo transhipment from Central Asia is due to redirecting part of the volume to Sangachal oil terminal.
In 2009, the Baku Port transhipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo which is 10 per cent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transhipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
