Fire on the Altiagac-Agsu gas pipeline in Shamakhi region in Azerbaijan has not affected gas supplies to Russia, Azerigas Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) told Trend on Saturday.

"Gas leak on Altiagac-Agsu gas pipeline with diameter of 1,200 millimeter occurred at 22:50 on Friday, after which the fire took place. A result of the taken measures, gas transportation via the pipeline was stopped, the fire was extinguished. The Altiagac-Agsu gas pipeline is part of the Mozdok-Gazimagomed main gas pipeline.

"There was a little break in gas supply to Russia in connection with the fire, but now gas is transported via an alternate line," Azerigas said.

As a result of the explosion gas supply to the Altiagac settlement of Khizi region was suspended.

Gas supply via Altiagac-Agsu main gas pipeline in Shamakhi region of Azerbaijan will be resumed in the near future.

"Altiagac settlement will be left without gas until completion of already started emergency and recovery operations. There is no problem in gas supply to other settlements," Azerigas said.

The specialists, who arrived on the scene, are clarifying the causes.

Shamakhi region is located in about 135 km from Baku.
