Ashgabat hosted the 41st meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council. The results of the activity of the countries' national energy systems states in autumn-winter 2011-2012 and the issues of coordinated work of Central Asia's power systems were discussed there, the organizers of the event said today.
The heads of energy ministries, agencies and big companies from 11 CIS countries attended the event.
The Electric Power Council was established in accordance with the agreement on the coordination of inter-state relations in the CIS power industry.
Such issues as the interaction of the CIS countries to resolve the issues of unplanned deviations of power flows and power between the member-states' energy systems and the preparation of a memorandum of cooperation were considered.
A draft Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the CIS Electric Power Council, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Union of the Electricity Industry "Eurelectric" was considered.
Such issues as environmentally friendly energy production, energy efficiency, renewable energy development, the interaction of electric power companies of the CIS countries in the elimination of major technological breakdowns and natural and manmade emergency situations were raised.
