Turkmenistan is a country with great reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials, and its policy is to diversify the supply of this raw material, Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekov told reporters at the event on the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on Friday.

"At present, Turkmenistan exports natural gas in various directions, which include Russia, China and Iran. At the same time Turkmenistan considers other directions of energy supply," Komekov said.

He underscored that at this stage work is actively underway on the implementation of TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) project, within which meetings were held. At present, the parties are coordinating a final agreement on details of the pipeline construction, pricing policy and technical issues.

The Turkmen side is ready to export its gas to European countries, Komekov said.

"Any energy project of Turkmenistan comes to ensuring global energy security. Therefore, the Turkmen side is ready to hold and is already holding consultations and work in all directions, including on supplies of Turkmen gas to Europe," he underlined.

The basic document for the promotion of TAPI project is the Ashgabat interstate agreement of the parties on the commencement of the practical implementation of the TAPI project signed in late 2010.

The designed capacity of the pipeline is about 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The project is promoted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Besides Dovletabad deposit, the largest 'Southern Yeloten - Osman' (Galkynysh) deposit developed in Turkmenistan may also become the raw materials base.

The length of the pipeline may be 1,735 kilometers.
