Azerbaijan ups gas supply to Turkey

As of June 29, daily volume of gas supplied from Azerbaijan to Turkey is 12 million cubic meters, a source on the oil and gas market told Trend today.

As of June 29, daily volume of gas supplied from Azerbaijan to Turkey is 12 million cubic meters, a source on the oil and gas market told Trend today.

"Earlier, the figure was 10 million cubic meters," the source said. "At present, it has reached 12 million cubic meters per day."

Iran has recently ceased natural gas supply to Turkey because of the explosion on the gas pipeline.

Gas is supplied from Azerbaijan to Turkey from the Shah Deniz field on the basis of the contract. The reserves of Azerbaijani gas condensate field Shah Deniz are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

According to the statistic data of the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas, in 2011 Turkey imported 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas. Russia ranks first among countries exporting gas to Turkey. The country is followed by Iran and Azerbaijan.
