Kazakh First Deputy Industry and New Technologies Minister Albert Rau doubts expediency of oil pipeline construction from Kazakhstan to future refinery in Kyrgyz Kara-Balta due to its small capacity, Kyrtag reported.

"Nobody builds pipeline to refinery with 800,000 tons capacity (capacity of future Kara-Balta refinery) or even 1 million tons," Rau said at the meeting with Kyrgyz Deputy Economy and Anti-Monopoly Policy Minister Oleg Pankratov.

Earlier Kyrgyz Economy and Anti-Monopoly Policy Minister Temir Sariyev during the meeting with Kazakh First Deputy Industry and New Technologies Minister Albert Rau said the issue of the pipeline construction was prepared to be discussed at the meeting of Kazakh and Kyrgyz Presidents scheduled for middle August.

"We will complete construction of Kara-Balta refinery with 800,000 tones capacity by the end of the year. So the issue of pipeline construction remains very important," Sariev said.

The issue of the pipeline construction was already discussed during Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev's last visit to Kazakhstan.
