BTC transports over 193 mln tons of oil since operation of pipeline

In January-July, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported about 17.9 million tons of Azerbaijani oil compared to 19.87 million tons in the same period of 2011, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said on Thursday.

As of Aug.1, 2012, 193.67 million tons of oil was transported via this pipeline.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported over 32.2 million tons of oil in 2011 compared to 37 million in 2010.

Some 17.7 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was supplied from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets in January-July 2012 compared to over 19.54 million tons in January-July 2011. As of Aug.1, 2012, 191.72 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was supplied from Ceyhan to the world markets.

Over 32.08 million tons of oil was delivered to the world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in 2011 compared to 37.3 million tons in 2010.

The BТС's total length is 1.768 kilometers including a 443-kilometer section running via
Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section traversing Georgia and a 1.076-kilometer section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. First oil was marked May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Amerada Hess (2.36 percent).
