Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 28 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

SOCAR has resumed gas supplies to Georgia, a source in SOCAR told Trend on Monday.

Azerbaijani gas supplies were suspended in May due to poor demand for gas on the Georgian market.

According to the source, at present, SOCAR supplies a daily amount of 3.5 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia.

"Gas supplies have been restored," the source said. "The volume of gas supplied to Georgia every day is 3.5 million cubic meters."

SOCAR supplies its own gas to Georgia through a pipeline connecting the two countries in the Azerbaijani Gazakh region within the activity on the Georgian market. The flow of gas through this pipeline is about three billion cubic meters of gas a year.

The company manages gas distribution networks covering Georgia's different regions using SOCAR Georgia Gas.
