Chemical product transportation through SOCAR's Kulevi oil terminal may begin in September, a SOCAR source told Trend today.
This will be possible thanks to a new propylene transportation complex at the oil terminal in Kulevi. The draft of the new complex was prepared by Neftgazelmitedgigatlayihe institute.
The complex includes compressors, transformers, a nitric station and a pier to supply polypropylene. The production at the terminal will be loaded directly from railway tankers into gas carriers.
"The chemical products have not been transported via the terminal yet, but the process can begin in September," a source said. "This depends on "Azerkimya" production association.
Kulevi terminal was put into operation in summer 2008. Its total capacity is 10 million tons of oil per year, including 3 million tons of oil, 3 million tons of diesel fuel, and 4 million tons of fuel oil.
The terminal can accommodate up to 168 tank cars. The tank farm's total volume is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of increasing to 380,000 cubic meters.
