In September, the preparation of the State Strategy for the development of alternative energy in Azerbaijan until 2020 will be completed, the State Company for alternative energy told Trend on Thursday.
According to the company, work is now underway to create a strategy so that it is completely ready in the next month.
"The preparation of the strategy is planned to be completed in September, after which it will be presented to the government. This will be in September-October this year," the State Company said.
The strategy was to be presented to the government in July this year. But in connection with the creation in the country of State Company for alternative and renewable energy, the strategy's presentation was delayed by three months.
Working groups were formed on various activities for the preparation of the strategy.
Preparation of a strategy for the use of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan for 2012-2020, and the organization of work within this strategy will allow the country to reach by 2020 the 20-percent share of alternative energy in the total energy consumption.
The choice of 2020 is not an accident, because by that time the EU intends to reach the level of 20 percent in the use of renewable energy of total share of energy consumption.
In late December 2011, the President of Azerbaijan signed a decree on the preparation in six months of a state strategy on use of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan for 2012-2020.
