Kazakhstan increased electric energy production to 58 billion kilowatt per hour in January-August 2012

Kazakhstan increased electric energy production to 58 billion kilowatt per hour in January-August 2012, Kazakh Prime Minister's press-service quoted Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Minister Asset Issekeshev as saying.

"The electric energy production hit 58 billion kilowatt per hour in 8 months of this year. This is 5 percent more compared to the same period of the last year," Issekeshev said at the government meeting on Tuesday.

Issekeshev noted that six energy plants, 25 boilers and 12 turbines have been already repaired in the frame of the preparation for the upcoming heating season.

Moreover, 4.6 million tons of coal or 36 percent more compared to the same period of 2011 and 99,000 tons of black fuel were accumulated in the fuel depots of the energy enterprises by September.

The Minister added that the peak energy demand in the next heating season is expected at the level of 14100 megawatt or 5 percent higher compared to the same period of 2011.
