Work on determining and approving energy tariffs produced by the Gobustan experimental polygon on alternative and renewable energy sources, is being conducted in Azerbaijan, the chief of staff at the Ministry of Industry and Energy Rasim Mammadov told journalists on Thursday.

The hybrid energy station was constructed on the site of a polygon which is capable of generating electric energy from the wind, sun and biomass.

"I consider that the questions on the price and route of electric energy will be solved in a short time," Mammadov noted.

He said the electric energy which is going to be produced by the hybrid station which is around five megawatts a year, is supposed to be implemented for the energy supply of the centre and the villages in the Gobustan region, located 72 km from Baku.

The polygon will provide an energy supply from Gobustan, where three wind turbines with capacity of 0.9 megawatt each and a solar electric station with a capacity of 1.8 megawatts, as well as a bioenergy installation with a capacity of one megawatt are constructed. The capacity of the station is planned to be increased to reach 5.5 megawatt. The station is monitored from a dispatcher centre.

A single retail tariff for electric energy to the amount of 0.06 manat (0.076 dollars) for one kilowatt/ hour with a wholesale price of not higher than 0.04 manat (0,05 dollars), has been operating in the country for five years now.
