Iran to reduce price for gas imported to Turkey

According to a claim presented to the International Arbitration Court by Turkey, Iran could reduce the price for gas imported to Turkey, by 10 per cent, Sabah newspaper quoted Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz as saying on Friday.

Yildiz noted that the issue of the price for Iranian gas could be settled within a year.

Previously, Turkey filed a case to the International Arbitration Court against Iran to set a challenge for price for gas imported to the country.

Iran and Turkey have signed an agreement on the annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in 1996 (30 million cubic meters daily).

According to statistical data of the Botas state pipeline company, Turkey imported 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011. Russia ranks first among gas exporters to Turkey, followed by Iran and Azerbaijan.
