New power substation to be built in Kazakh Almaty

Kazakh Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) will complete construction of new power substation 'Alma' in Kazakh city of Almaty by December, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to KEGOC Chairman of the Board Bakytzhan Kazhiyev.

"We understand that Almaty is a great metropolis, and we make efforts to complete the Alma substation construction in December," Kazhiyev said.

Kazhiyev sad that the new power substation will double reliability of power supply to Almaty.

"Almaty power center is very power-hungry. Moreover all energy pass through the only power substation in Almaty, where accident took place on September 24," Kazhiyev said at the government meeting on Tuesday.

KEGOC head said that the power substation 'Alma' will be put in operation in 2013.
