"Some issues appeared in connection with my activity in the post of Justice Minister in 2005-2007," the statement said. "I honestly served my country, but, I have to resign due to vile concoctions not to subject Minister Kakha Kaladze, who appointed me to this post, to pressure."
Gia Kavtaradze's role in suppressing the prison riot in 2006 has been recently discussed in the society. It was reported that Kavtaradze was Justice Minister that period and did nothing to avoid the violent suppression of the riot.
