SOCAR interested in privatisation of Istanbul’s gas distribution network

The SOCAR GAZ gas distribution company, recently established by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is interested in the privatisation of Istanbul’s gas distribution network İGDAŞ, Yeni Safak newspaper quotes SOCAR Turkey Energy head and board member of the Petkim petrochemical complex Kenan Yavuz as saying on Tuesday.

The SOCAR GAZ gas distribution company, recently established by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is interested in the privatisation of Istanbul's gas distribution network İGDAŞ, Yeni Safak newspaper quotes SOCAR Turkey Energy head and board member of the Petkim petrochemical complex Kenan Yavuz as saying on Tuesday.

He said SOCAR expects İGDAŞ will be put up for privatisation and after the announcement of the tender conditions; SOCAR GAZ will take a final decision on the offer.

The tender has been postponed several times. Ninety per cent of the shares will be put up for privatisation with the tender open to both foreign and local companies.
SOCAR Turkey Energy jointly with the Turkish gas company Çığ Enerji established the company SOCAR Gaz Ticareti AŞ for gas distribution on the domestic market of Turkey
The company will distribute 700-800 million cubic meters of gas imported into Turkey from Azerbaijan.
