Kazakh Aktau Port decreases oil cargo transshipment

The Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped 6.409 million tons of oil cargo in January-October 2012 compared to 6.8 million tons in the same period of 2011, the Port reported on Thursday.

Some oil transshipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

Meanwhile, the total volume of dry and oil cargo transshipped in January- October 2012 amounted to 9.283 million tons, including 1.282 million tons of hardware, 525,000 tons of grain and 310,000 tons of other cargo.

In January - October 2011 the port transshipped over 9.28 million tons of different cargo, which is 8.2 percent more compared to the forecasted figure.

More than 4.07 million tons of dry goods were handled in 2011 compared to about 3.25 million tons in 2010. In particular, the port transhipped 2.01 million tons of hardware, 1.43 million tons of ferry cargo, 303,000 tons of grain and 322,000 tons of other cargo.

In January-October, the port handled more than 9.28 million tons, which is 8.2 percent more than projected.

In total in 2011 Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port handled 12.1 million tons of oil and dry cargo compared to 12.8 million tons in 2010.

In January-October, Aktau port received 1,560 ships.
