Tajikistan plans to increase funding of Rogun HPP project by almost 100 million somoni (10 somoni = $2.0991) compared to the current year, Tajik Finance Minister Safarali Nadzhmiddinov told Asia-Plus.

"In late June of 2011, the assessment of project's feasibility study and environmental and social impacts...will be completed. We hope the assessment will be favor of further HPP construction and after the announcement of the results, the project financing will be at full scale," Nadzhmiddinov said.

According to Nadzhmiddinov, in 2012 Tajikistan allocated 1.100 billion somoni to Rogun project.

Uzbekistan neighboring with Tajikistan stands against the construction of the Rogun project. According to Uzbekistan, there is a dam break threat due to possible earthquake. However, Tajikistan considers such fears as groundless: the country has other stations of such dams, which have been working for decades.
