The Kazakh-Kyrgyz joint venture KazKyrGaz will be shut down, the general director of KazTransGas JSC Serik Sultangaly told Trend on Wednesday.

KyrgyzGas's administration has been reshuffled. The new leaders of the company decided that they can manage the company on their own and therefore KazKyrGaz JV will be shut down," Sultangaly said.

KazKyrGaz JV was created to provide Kyrgyzstan with Uzbek gas.

However, according to Sultangaly, KazTransGaz will not abandon its commitment to gas supplies to the neighbouring state.

"The head of state issued a directive to help the brotherly Kyrgyz people. This is not about policy. Our main goal is to provide stability for our neighbours," he said.

According to him, this year KazTransGas will supply about 300 million cubic meters of gas to the north of Kyrgyzstan.

"We supply not only Uzbek gas to Kyrgyzstan, but also gas from our Amangeldy field as Kyrgyzstan still has no agreement with Uzbekistan on supplies of Uzbek gas to them," Sultangaly said.

KazTransGas JSC was established in accordance with the governmental decree of Kazakh Republic No173 dated February 5, 2000 in order to systematise the work of gas industry.

In accordance with the Kazakh government decree N914, as of July 5, 2012 KazTransGas JSC is defined as the national operator in the field of gas and gas supply.
