Turkey significantly increases gas imports

In January-November, the Turkish state pipeline company Botaş imported about 38.8 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources, compared to about 35.16 billion cubic meters imported in January-November 2011, official website of Botaş reported on Tuesday.

In January-November, the Turkish state pipeline company Botaş imported about 38.8 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources, compared to about 35.16 billion cubic meters imported in January-November 2011, official website of Botaş reported on Tuesday.

Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is delivered through the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

In 2011, Botaş imported over 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to nearly 32.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.

In January-November Botaş exported 555 million cubic meters of gas, compared to 654 million cubic meters exported in January-November of last year. In 2011, 726 million cubic meters of gas were exported whereas in 2010 - 660 million cubic meters.

In January-November, about 36.73 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in Turkey's domestic market compared to last year's 34.7 billion cubic meters.

In 2011, 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in Turkey's domestic market compared to about 31.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.
