Kazakh Aktau port increases oil cargo transhipment

The Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transhipped 1.5 million tons of oil cargo in January-February 2013 compared to 1.3 million tons in the same period of 2012, the Port's website reported.

The Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transhipped 1.5 million tons of oil cargo in January-February 2013 compared to 1.3 million tons in the same period of 2012, the Port's website reported.

In total in 2012 the port transshipped about 7.6 million tons of oil cargo compared to over 8.03 million tons in 2011.

Some oil transhipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

In particular, in January-February 143,200 tons of the total amounts of handled cargo accounted for hardware, 207,000 tons - ferry cargo, 89,500 tons - grain and 63,600 tons - other goods.

In total in January-February, the port transshipped over 2 million tons of cargo or by 19.4 percent more than the expected volume.

In January-February, Aktau port received 312 ships.
