Aktau port increases oil cargo transshipment in first quarter of 2013

In January-March 2013 Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transhipped about 2.1 million tons of oil compared to more than 1.9 million tons during the same period in 2012, official website of the port reported on Thursday.

In January-March 2013 Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transhipped about 2.1 million tons of oil compared to more than 1.9 million tons during the same period in 2012, official website of the port reported on Thursday.

According to the report, in total in 2012 the port transhipped about 7.6 million tons of oil cargo compared to over 8.03 million tons in 2011.

Some oil transhipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

In particular, in January-March 178,900 tons of the total amounts of handled cargo accounted for hardware, 270,000 tons - ferry cargo, 144,000 tons - grain and 112,800 tons - other goods.

In total in January-March, the port transshipped over 2.78 million tons of cargo or by 18 percent more than the expected volume.

In January-March, Aktau port received 445 ships.
