BTC transports over seven million tons of oil in January-March

In January-March 2013, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 7.34 million tons of oil compared to 7.93 million tons in January-March 2012, according a SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) statement released on Tuesday.

In January-March 2013, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 7.34 million tons of oil compared to 7.93 million tons in January-March 2012, according a SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) statement released on Tuesday.
In 2012, the BTC transported 29.67 million tons of Azerbaijani oil compared to over 32.2 million tons in 2011.

As of April 1, 2013, 212.8 million tons of oil was transported since the start of the pipeline's operation.

In January-March, nearly seven million tons of oil was supplied to world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan, compared to 7.3 million tons in January-March 2012. As of April 1, 2013, 210.66 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was supplied from Ceyhan to the world markets since the start of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline's operation.

In 2012, some 29.3 million tons of oil was supplied from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world market, compared to over 32.08 million tons in 2011.

The BТС's total length is 1768 kilometers including a 443-kilometre section running via Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometre section traversing Georgia and a 1076-kilometre section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. The first oil was marketed on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.90 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TRAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.50 percent), ConocoPhilips (2.50 percent) and Hess (2.36 percent).
