The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 1.04 million tons of oil from the Georgian port of Supsa in January-April 2013 compared to over 1 million tons of oil in January-April 2012, SOCAR said today.

SOCAR exported about 242,370 tons of oil from the Georgian port of Supsa in April compared to 161,450 tons of oil in April 2012.

SOCAR exported 2.74 million tons of oil from the Georgian port of Supsa in 2012 compared to 2.65 million tons of oil in 2011.

Oil is delivered to Supsa via the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline.

In 2010, SOCAR exported 2.84 million tons of Azeri Light crude oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields (ACG) via the Western pipeline route, compared to 2.79 million tons in 2009.

In 2007, oil was not shipped via this pipeline due to repairs that started in November of 2006. In mid-2008, the process of filling the pipeline with oil began, however, because of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, the process was halted. Oil transportation via this pipeline was restored at the beginning of November, 2008.

BP is the pipeline's operator.
