Modernization of large gas processing plant in Uzbekistan completed

The National Holding Company (NHC) "Uzbekneftegaz" completed the modernization of $171.8 million worth UDP "Mubarek Gas Processing Plant" in Kashkadarya region in the South of the country, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee said in a joint statement.

According to the report, the project envisaged the construction of the seventh stage of gas desulphurization within 3 (16th, 17th, 18th) universal blocks with total capacity of 6 billion cubic meters per year. The contractors of the construction are the subdivisions of "Uzbekneftegaz" NHC.

The 18th block became operational in the third quarter of 2012 and the remaining two blocks - in the first quarter of 2013.

The financing of the project was carried out at the expenses of "Uzbekneftegaz" NHC's own resources.

The implementation of the project will give opportunity to insure a reliable work of the installed capacities in purification of the natural gas from hydrogen sulfide and sour gas in the long-term perspective, as well as compensate the volume of natural gas processing to the GEA.

The blocks of the new stage will also give opportunity to solve the issue of gas processing at the "Hauzak-Shady" site in Bukhara region, which is processed by "LUKOIL" JSC within PSA with Uzbekistan.

As it was reported, the Russian company commissioned the "Hauzak-Shady" gas field in 2007, within the "Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad" PSA. The production level in this field amounted to about 4 billion cubic meters at the end of 2012.

The "Mubarek Gas Processing Plant" was commissioned in 1971. currently, the capacity of the plant amounts to nearly 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas and the production capacity to over 570,000 gas condensate per year.
