SOCAR spends over $600 million on purchasing of automotive natural gas filling station abroad

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan ) has spent over $630.8 million on acquiring natural gas filling station networks abroad, according to an interview of SOCAR's Vice-President Suleyman Gasimov, posted in the summer issue of SOCAR Plus magazine.

According to Gasimov, around 330 million Swiss francs (approximately $350 million ) was spent on purchasing of automotive natural gas filling stations owned by Esso Schweiz company, to deliver fuel to 172 natural gas filling stations, to bases of wholesale trade and the aircraft refueling points in Geneva and Zurich airports. A network of natural gas filling stations, which also includes 65 natural gas filling stations in Ukraine was purchased for $180 million.

The volume of investments in acquiring 94 and 24 natural gas filling stations in Georgia and Romania amounted to $76 million and 19 million euros (over $25 million) relatively.
