As of September 1, 2013, the number of gas consumers in Azerbaijan amounted to 1,569,860 against 1,561,750 (as of August 1), a statement released by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said on Monday.
SOCAR's Azerigaz Production Association is engaged in the distribution and sale of gas in Azerbaijan.
According to the report, out of the total number of consumers some 1,550,854 account for category of population, and 19,006 subscribers - for other categories.
Out of the total number of gas subscribers some 681,842 subscribers account for Baku (672,030 subscribers from the group of population), some 888,018 subscribers (878,824 subscribers from population) account for other regions of Azerbaijan.
As of September 1, the number of smart-card counters installed for consumers from the group of population reached 782,825 units, whereas, for January 1 this figure was 594,000.
