Azerbaijan, Baku, Sep. 17 / Trend, E. Ismaylov /

According to September 16 data, 1.77 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped into the underground gas storage system of Azerbaijan from the start of the season, a source from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) that has the storages on its balance told Trend on Tuesday.

There are 2 underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan, Kalmaz and Garadagh.

According to the source, over 1 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped into Garadagh gas storage, and 763.29 million cubic meters into Kalmaz gas storage.

"There are 3.24 billion cubic meters of gas in both underground gas storages at the moment, including 1.76 billion cubic meters in Garadagh gas storage, and about 1.46 billion cubic meters in Kalmaz," the source said.

According to the source, rather more than 4 billion cubic meters of gas per day are pumped into the storage facilities now.

On the results of the withdrawal season, residual volume of gas in the country's underground gas storages exceeded 1.47 billion cubic meters, in Garadagh about 780 million cubic meters and in Kalmaz 697.03 million cubic meters.

Country's underground gas storages capabilities allow to store there about 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

On the results of the past pumping season, the volume of gas in underground gas storages of the country amounted to about 3.3 billion cubic meters, compared to about 3.25 billion cubic meters by the end of the last season. 2.11 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped to the storages last year.
