In January-July 2013, the U.S. imported 168,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported.
For the same period last year, the U.S. did not import oil products from Azerbaijan.
According to the report, in July the U.S. imported 110,000 barrels of Azerbaijani oil products.
After a long interruption in 2012, the U.S. imported only 46,000 barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, while in 2008 this figure amounted to 308,000 barrels of oil products.
Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with a total capacity of 16 million tons per year. Both refineries are part of SOCAR, which annually processes approximately seven million tons of oil from offshore and onshore fields at own expense.
