Over 22 million tons of Azerbaijani oil transported via BTC in Jan.-Sept.

In January-September 2013, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 22.55 million tons of Azerbaijani oil compared to 22.9 million tons in January-September 2012, SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) told in its statement published on Friday.
In 2012 Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) transported 29.67 million tons of the Azerbaijani oil compared to over 32.2 million tons in 2011.

As of October 1,2013, about 228 million tons of oil was transported via BTC since its commissioning.

In January-September, the Turkish port of Ceyhan shipped 21.94 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world markets, compared to 22.28 million tons in January-September 2012. So far, according to the data of October 1, 2013, the port shipped 225.61 million tons of oil to the world markets.

In 2012 the Turkish port of Ceyhan shipped 29.3 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world markets compared to over 32.08 million tons in 2011.

The total length of BТС is 1.768 kilometers including the 443 kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometer section via Georgia and the 1.076 kilometer via Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders include BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil Hydro (8.71%); ТРАО (6.53%); Eni (5%); Total (5%); Itochu (3.40%); Inpex (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and ONGC (2.36%).
