Oil production may resume at the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan in the second half of December 2013, Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin said after the plenary session of the Majilis (lower chamber) of the Kazakh Parliament on Wednesday.
"This will be announced following all analyses," the minister said. "These will take time. They can last until mid-December according to the contractors."
Karabalin confirmed that production may start after mid-December 2013.
Earlier it was reported that production at Kashagan was stopped in September, two weeks after its start due to a gas leak. Immediately after production resumed in October, another leak was found and oil production was again suspended.
