State Concern Turkmennebit (Turkmenoil) is carrying out works on the development of the North Goturdepe field located in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea, Chairman of Turkmennebit State Concern, Rejepgeldi Ilamanov said at the 'Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2013' conference taking place until today in Ashgabat.

"The results of geological exploration work carried out at this part of the field not only proved the prognosis of our geologists and drillers, but also went beyond the most courageous expectations. New prolific reservoirs were opened through the drilled wells," he said.

It was earlier reported that the resources at the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are estimated at 12 billion tons of oil and 6.5 trillion cubic meters of gas. The state concern started to develop oil and gas fields there nearly three years ago. The achieved high results in the development of the site is also the result of the use of modern equipment and high-tech dual completion of two or more horizons in one well.

Turkmenoil carries out exploration and development of oil and gas fields ensuring the creation of conditions for effective development in oil and gas production and in the drilling of exploration and production wells.

Currently the state concern operates about three dozen fields which include over 600 oil and gas deposits at various stages of development.
