Over 83 per cent of gas imported by Georgia comes from Azerbaijan

In January-October 2013 Georgia's natural gas imports from Azerbaijan amounted to 978,160 tons totalling $178.7 million, according to a report of the National Statistics Service of Georgia (GeoStat).

Azerbaijan is the main supplier of this type of fuel to Georgia with a specific weight of 83.25 per cent of total imports of Georgia in this category.

According to the report, in January-October 2013 Georgia's natural gas imports amounted to $214.65 million.

In annual terms, the volume of the Georgian natural gas imports from Azerbaijan rose by 19.65 per cent (in quantitative terms - by 0.22 per cent, or 2.18 tons). For comparison, during the first ten months of 2012, Georgia imported from Azerbaijan some 975,980 tons of fuel totalling $149.35 million.

In the reporting period the specific weight of gas in total imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia stood at 37.16 per cent. In January-October 2013 Georgia imported from Azerbaijan products worth $480.85 million. The volume of imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia over this period decreased by 8.39 per cent compared to the same period of the last year. For comparison, in January-October 2012 Georgian import of Azerbaijani goods stood at $524.9 million.
