By Rahim Zamanov - Trend:

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that as soon as the sanctions of country's oil sector are lifted, Tehran will boost its oil exports, the ISNA News Agency reported on Dec. 3.

Zanganeh made the remarks before the 164th Ordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna.

"Iran has no technical difficulty in increasing exports and returning to the production capacity of 4 million barrels per day," he added.

According to Zanganeh, Iran's oil exports have dropped to 1.2 million barrels per day from the previous figure of 2.5 million barrels in 2011.

"Increasing oil exports is Iran's certain right," Zanganeh said.

The 164th Ordinary ministerial meeting of OPEC kicked off in Vienna on Dec. 4.

During Wednesday's session, the ministers responsible for oil from the 12 OPEC member countries will review the situation of the international oil market, in the light of the current crude prices, All Arica News Agency reported on Dec. 3.

In view of current prices, the meeting is expected to go smoothly, with no relevant changes in the organization's daily production of 30 million barrels.

The election of the ministers of the new OPEC Secretary General will take place.

Founded in 1961 in Bagdad, Iraq, OPEC provides a significant portion of the oil used around the world.
