For 111 years, the Pirallahi Island field developed by SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) alone has produced 29 million tons of oil, an article published in SOCAR Plus magazine said.
According to the article, the residual oil reserves of the field exceed two million tons.
Currently 388 wells with a maximum depth of 900 metres operate in the field provide 200 tons of oil daily.
'At the same time SOCAR continues to monitor the oil potential of the surrounding areas. Moreover, the State Oil Company is currently continuing drilling the onshore part of the Pirallahi field', the article said.
SOCAR includes Azneft (onshore and offshore oil and gas production), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas (gas distribution) production associations, as well as a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations.
