Aktau port reduced transshipment of oil cargo in January

Aktau International Sea Trade Port (AISTP) of Kazakhstan transshipped over 607,000 tons of oil cargo in January, 2014 compared to about 864,000 tons in the same period last year, a message posted on the port's official website said.

Aktau International Sea Trade Port (AISTP) of Kazakhstan transshipped over 607,000 tons of oil cargo in January, 2014 compared to about 864,000 tons in the same period last year, a message posted on the port's official website said.

In 2013, the port handled more than 6.28 million tons of oil, compared to about 7.6 million tons in 2012.

A part of the oil transshipped through the port of Aktau is transported to Baku, where it is delivered by railway to the Black Sea ports of Georgia.

In particular, in January, 2014, some 101,000 tons of the total volume of cargos transshipped by the dry-cargo port consisted of metal products, 166, 000 tons of ferry cargos, 87,000 tons of grain, and 15,000 tons of other cargos, according to the message.

Totally, the port handled some 977, 000 tons of cargo in January, which is 16.4 percent more than the forecasted volume.

The number of ship callings at the port has amounted to 170 in January

Totally, the port handled some 10.08 million tons of cargo in 2013, which is 3.1 percent more than the forecasted volume.
