The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has begun the process of gas pumping into underground storage facilities in Azerbaijan.

As of April 22, about 84.7 million cubic meters of gas was pumped into the country's gas storage facility, a source at the SOCAR told Trend.

Azerbaijan has two underground gas storage facilities - Kalmaz and Garadagh.
More than 34.1 million cubic meters out of the total pumped gas into the gas storage facility accounted for Garadagh and over 50.5 million cubic meters for Kalmaz gas storage facility, according to the source.

At present, the volume of active gas in underground storage facilities exceeds 1.46 billion cubic meters in the country, 780.56 million cubic meters of which accounted for Garadagh and 681.2 million cubic meters - Kalmaz gas storage facility.

On the results of the past gas picking season, the remaining volume of gas in underground gas storages of the country amounted to about 1.38 billion cubic meters, (Garadagh -746.43 million cubic meters, Kalmaz - about 630,6 million cubic meters.)

The capacity of the underground gas storage facilities allows storing more than 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
