Aktau port reduces oil cargo transshipment in January-April

Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped about 2.33 million tons of oil cargo in January-April 2014 compared to about 2.56 million tons in the same period of 2013, the port said on May 8.

The port transshipped over 6.28 million tons of oil cargo in 2013 compared to about 7.6 million tons in 2012.

Some oil transshipped via the Aktau port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to Georgia's Black Sea ports via railway.

Some 355,000 tons of dry cargo transshipped by the port in January-April 2014 accounted for the metal goods, 609,000 tons accounted for ferry cargo, 302,000 tons accounted for grain, and 141,000 tons accounted for other cargo.

The port transshipped 3.74 million tons of cargo in January-April compared to 3.51 million tons in the same period of 2013. Ships entered the port 590 times in January-April.

In total, the port transshipped 10.08 million tons of cargo in 2013, which is 3.1 percent more than the projected volume.
