Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that the country is now a major power in submarine pipeline laying under the Persian Gulf surface.

"We were not able to lay even one meters of pipeline below the sea or install an offshore platform in the Iranian calendar year of 1376 (ended March 20. 1998), but now we have become a regional power in that regard," he said, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported.

"We should never let the foreigners to take advantage of the sanctions imposed on Iran," he said.

"The oil ministry completely supports domestic producers," Zanganeh said.

He went on to note that the oil ministry is working in compliance with the government's Economic Resistance policies.

"Currently 70 percent of the equipment needed in the oil industry is being produced domestically," he concluded.
