Geophysics and Geology department of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has completed seismic exploration works on the "Gadis-Stalchay" area located in the Guba-Caspian oil and gas area, the report of SOCAR says on Aug. 25.
The report notes that, in particular, two-dimensional seismic, gravimetric and magneto metric works were carried out on the site.
The data obtained during the seismic survey is currently being processed and interpreted. The works were carried out in order to clarify the geological structure, the distribution of hydrocarbons in the study area, the study of prospective of oil and gas areas, the report said.
"The new data will create conditions for the proper orientation during the exploratory drilling," the report says.
SOCAR includes Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas (production associations).
In addition, the State Oil Company has a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises, institutions involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
