The largest network of gas stations in Azerbaijan - Azpetrol- commented on maintaining the prices for Premium (AI-95) gasoline unchanged at its own gas stations.

Azpetrol told Trend that it reduced the prices for AI-95 gasoline by 0.02 AZN per liter on Jan. 13 in connection with the fall in oil prices in the world market. Thus, the prices stood at 0.93 AZN per liter of AI-95 gasoline.

However, the retail price for the fuel at the gas stations of Azpetrol was again increased to 0.95 AZN as with the decision of the Tariff (price) Council, road tax worth of 0.02 AZN was included in the wholesale price for Premium (AI-95) gasoline from January13, 2015.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said on Jan.13 because of the fall in world prices for oil and petroleum products, the prices for Super and Premium gasoline were reduced from 1.07 AZN to 1.05 AZN and from 0.95 AZN to 0.93 AZN at the gas stations operating under the brand name of SOCAR.

However, in connection with including road tax in the wholesale price of these gasoline brands, SOCAR again changed the prices for them. Thus the prices remained unchanged.

Under a decision of the Tariff (Price) Council, made earlier, the retail price of the AI-92 gasoline will be 0.72 AZN, and diesel fuel - 0.62 AZN, while the increase affected the wholesale prices of gas and the Premium Euro 95 and Super Euro 98 gasoline brands.

The retail price of AI-95 (Premium) gasoline fell in Azerbaijan on Oct. 1, 2014 from 0.97 AZN to 0.95 AZN per liter, while the price of gasoline with an octane rating of 98 stands at 1.03 AZN per liter.

Under the amendments to the Tax Code, under which a decision was taken to change the gasoline prices, starting from 2015, the vehicles of foreign countries, paying road tax while entering and departure from Azerbaijan, are subject to taxation.

The gasoline, diesel fuel and liquid gas produced in Azerbaijan for domestic consumption or imported from abroad are subject to taxation as well.

Accordingly, the country's car owners are exempt from road tax.

The official exchange rate on Jan.13 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
