By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran will export 500,000 barrels of condensates in the coming days from the South Pars gas field phases 15 and 16.

Reza Forouzesh, the project manager of phases 15 and 16, said that 500,000 barrels of condensates has been exported and the second consignment will be exported by the end of the week, Iran's Shana news agency reported on Feb. 1.

"The two phases' gas production currently stands at 34 million cubic meters per day, but the figure is expected to reach 40 million cubic meters per day in the near future," he said.

Phases 15 and 16 are projected to produce 56.6 million cubic meters of gas per day, and 1.05 million metric tons of liquid gas (propane and butane) and one million metric tons of ethane per year.

The South Pars field has 14 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources.

The field is part of a wider gas field that Iran shares with Qatar. The larger field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters (South Pars) in the Gulf.
